CAPTCHA and automated tests
CAPTCHA and other anti-bot protections can interrupt an automated form test even when you can submit the form yourself.
Check the failure
Section titled “Check the failure”Review the failed test’s details and available recording. Look for a challenge, blocked submission, missing required token, or security page before the form loads.
Keep the FormStatus companion plugin active and up to date. Supported integrations include test-specific handling for some CAPTCHA and spam controls. This does not cover every challenge, security product, or configuration.
Keep visitor protection in place
Section titled “Keep visitor protection in place”Do not disable CAPTCHA for every visitor just to make a monitoring test pass. First check the form integration and your site’s security logs. If necessary, ask your security provider or FormStatus support about a narrowly scoped exception for legitimate monitoring traffic.
If the form has a multi-step or conditional flow, review the recorded steps too. A missed required field can resemble a CAPTCHA failure.
Run a new manual test after making a targeted change. Firewall troubleshooting may help if the request never reaches the form.
